I'm slowly making progress on my postcard project for Facebook friends; I've finished six of the first series of 15 and am now working on the seventh. The first five were hackish copies of other artwork done by actual artists; the sixth was my first attempt at an original work. I used a photo of a Chinese aircraft carrier for reference to get the perspective, and then used a lineart concept drawing. Main issues -- the bow is a mess, and I need a ton of practice with getting line weight correct. I tried a few things with this, but there is clearly a lot more for me to try and learn. And I got lazy and sloppy with the water and the logo, too,

As part of a renewed effort to draw more, I put out a call on Facebook for my friends to request drawings on 5x7 blank Canson watercolor postcards that I picked up in Minneapolis. I got so many requests I had to go back and buy a second package of cards, and now I've got a list of 28 of these things to do for people. The first two are done and are either in the mail or waiting to be hand-delivered. Once people confirm that they've received them, I'll post them here and in an album on Facebook (I want my friends to see them in person first, and not in some junky scan online).
